Something Special to Share

Hello again - I know I don't post for a couple of months and then all of sudden I do two posts in one day but I had to share this most special Christmas gift that I was given EVER!!  My dear grandmother passed away almost 1 year ago (she was 94 years old and very special to me).  She owned a beautiful fur coat that my grandfather had bought for her many, many years ago and she owned ths fur coat until the day she passed away.  My grandmother has 2 daughters - one is my mom and the other my aunt and between my mom and my aunt there are 4 grandchildren (actually 5 but my brother is mentally handicapped and has been since a small child).  However my aunt was going to get rid of the fur coat after my grandmother passed away but my mother said she wanted to have it.  My mother had a brilliant idea (my mother is an amazing woman) anyways she thought it would be such a wonderful gift to have my grandmother's fur coat made into special "keepsake" bears - 1 for each of her grandchildren whom she adored.  My mother found a lady to make the bears and then my mom knitted the clothes they are wearing.  The lady who made the bears was able to get 6 bears from the coat and so my mom and my aunt also will get one of the special bears too!!  My mom asked me to come over yesterday and pick out a bear - It was so special and this bear is so special too - I ended up choosing the one on the farthest left in the picture - he is adorable!!!.  Even though they were all made from the same pattern they all were so unique in their looks - that is the amazing part of "homemade" that I so love.  Anyways my aunt and my 3 cousins I am sure will be touched as well this Christmas season by this so very special gift.  I had to share this as it just means so much to me and it is a really heartwarming story - my grandma will be smiling from heaven I know when she sees us all with one of her fur bears.  My grandmother loved to do handwork as well so I know she would just love this. Mom if you are reading this post - I love you and thank you from the bottom of my heart - you are the best!!!!!  So thoughtful and kind!!!   I wanted to share this with my crafty blog friends as I know they will love to see the bears as well!!

Have a very Merry Christmas to all - I may post a card or 2 yet before Christmas but in case I run out of time may your season be filled with Joy and Peace and great family memories!!!!

Love your stamping friend, Debbie

Let it Snow

Hello everyone - I know it has been ages since my last post - I couldn't believe it has been since October - I have been busy with work, wedding plans for my youngest son who is getting married in July and I also started to take watercolor painting lessons as well which took away some of my stamping time.  I no way intend to give up my stamping and making cards as I have such a deep passion for it that will be with me for the rest of my life.  As this Christmas season was so busy I made the same card (assembly line style) for most of the people on my list - this was very unusual for me and to be honest the very first time I had done it - but it did work out well this year and at least I was still able to send out homemade cards.  The card I made is this adorable Edwin - I don't own very many Edwin stamps but when I saw this Edwin sitting in the snow with his skis I couldn't resist him.  Magnolia also had some gorgeous blue snowy wintery paper as well to compliment this stamp.  I really enjoyed making this card - I used my Sizzix die for the tree and MS snowflake punch.  His cute snowsuit is paperpieced and I added some jewels for extra sparkle.  I will be making a few more special cards to give to my dear friends and my mom before Christmas yet and will hopefully get a chance to post those as well.  Thanks for stopping by to visit and I hope you have most of your Christmas shopping done and can enjoy the last few days before Christmas.

Thinking of You

Hello - The start of a long weekend always makes me happy.  Here in Canada we are celebrating Thanksgiving on Monday and I am looking forward to 3 days off and being able to spend more time in my craft room creating.  I made this card a few days ago and I am not sure what it is but I wasn't happy about how it turned out and I put it in my "discarded" drawer - I have a drawer that is getting full of cards that are not up to "my" standards - it can be very frustrating sometimes having this type of personality - expecting so much of myself - I decided that this was probably the best of the worst (of the past few cards I made) so I decided to post this one.  I love this Tilda she is called "Tilda with Ugg shoes" and she is from the Australian collection.  I used paper that was in my paper stash drawer and added flowers, Marianne die but, Martha Stewart punch and Memory Box die.  The sentiment is from C.C. Designs.  Thanks for taking time to visit my blog and if you are Canadian "Happy Turkey Weekend".

Star Student

Hello everyone - this card I made using the adorable Autumn Tilda with pencils.  I just love these new Autumn Magnolias - each one is just as cute as the other and that makes it so hard to choose which ones to buy as well.  I used an older 6 x 6 paper pad set from My Mind's Eye for some of the paper and to cut out the school and apple.  The sentiment is also from the same paper pack.  I colored Tilda with copic markers but did paper piece her dress.  I added some black gingham ribbon and a black Fiskars die for the border on the bottom.  Our warm summer like weather unfortunately ended yesterday with a big wind storm bringing in much cooler autumn weather - ugh!!  Oh well I guess we were very fortunate to have the warm weather as long as we did.  It is Thanksgiving weekend coming up here in Canada so I am really looking forward to a nice long weekend and of course more time in my craft room.  Have a great day and thanks for visiting my blog.

Autumn Splendor

The first day of fall was 2 days ago and here where we live in this beautiful part of British Columbia the weather is amazing!!  It is like summer weather but with a taste of fall in the air - I always love autumn and the spectacular colors that accompany this time of year.  The leaves are just in the beginning stages of turning colors and the cool crisp evenings and mornings are perfect for walking my dog.  As I am in the autumn mood I decided to make this card. Tilda in her autumn splendor - I love how she is standing and holding her flowers and basket.  I used Bo Bunny Apple Cider Collection 6 x 6 paper pad.  This paper pad has gorgeous fall papers - it was hard to choose which ones to use.  The sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farms - I love this sentiment as it really is what fall is all about - a visual masterpiece.  It reminds me to make the most of each and every day as each day we have is so special.  Tilda is colored with copic markers and I have added a Sizzlit die for the background leaves, a flower, jewels and some lace.  Thank you for stopping by to visit my blog and I hope you have a wonderful day and week.

From Halloween to Christmas

Hello - I have been on a long break - lots of different things going on right now - I finally did manage to make a card and this time I made a Christmas card using Make it Crafty Christmas elf  "Twinkles".  I bought the entire Christmas Elves Collection - there are 6 of them all together and they are all just as cute as this one.  I used my Marianne die cut for the circle/star background and the sentiment is cut out of designer paper.  I colored the image using my copic markers and added some shading with prisma pencils (a new technique for me).  I added some sparkle to the bells at the ends of her hat and layered with design paper from my paper stash pile.  Thanks for stopping by for a visit and I hope you have a wonderful week.

The Good Witch Hazel

Hello - I know it is kind of early to think about Halloween but I was asked to design a card for our local scrapbooking store using this adorable Whimsy Stamp called "Hazel".  I decided she was way too cute to be anything other than a good witch and take a look at the bat on the end of the broomstick - he is also way too cute!!  I enjoyed the challenge in coloring this image as I was trying to incorporate an imaginary light source coming from the left hand side and therefore I paid close attention to how my shadows would fall.  I am really trying to focus on this more and more in my coloring as it does make quite a difference.  I tend to look at things differently now-a-days and pay close attention to color and shadows and light sources.  It really is a learning process but a fun one.  I used a few different papers from Graphic 45 called "Happy Haunting Collection" (love this paper!!) and I layered with black, purple and orange cardstock.  The fence is from Memory Box and the pumpkin patch is cut out of the design paper as well as the sentiment and the stars in behind.  I am going to enter this in the current Whimsy challenge "lots of layers".  Thanks for stopping by for a visit and hope you have a wonderful week.  I have listed the copic markers I used below.

Hair - E25, YR24, Y26, Y21
Face - E000, E11, E21
Dress - C8, C5, C3, C2, C0, V17, V15, V12

I also used a few prisma pencils to get greater depth in some areas.

Your Next Stamp Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello - hard to believe another week has gone by - where is the summer going?  Another Your Next Stamp Challenge and this week it is "Anything Goes" so I decided to use the adorable Fhiona and Pony stamp to create this card.  I used a Sizzix die for the outer frame and added some sky paper in behind.  The leaves/branches to the side is also a Sizzix die, the grass a Fiskars border bunch, the flowers and sentiment letters are Quikutz dies and the flag die is Memory Box.  I sure love my Big Shot machine and how versatile it is and how it allows me to use all these different dies and it cuts so perfectly the first time around - I can remember the hand-held device I had for my Quikutz dies and how hard it was to push it down and then so often it would not cut right through the paper and I would have to keep re-doing it - that was such a pain!! Thank goodness for the Big Shot - I absolutely love this cutting machine and would highly recommend it to anyone.  Hopefully you can get a chance to head over to Your Next Stamp to check out what the design team created and maybe play along yourself.  Thanks for taking time to visit my blog and have a wonderful day!

Your Next Stamp Thursday Challenge - Books

Hello and it is Thursday once again and that means Your Next Stamp has another challenge on the go!  This week the theme is "Books" and when I found out that the theme was books I immediately thought of back to school .  All of the designer paper on this card is from My Mind's Eye 6" x 6" paper pad called School Daze.  It is a fabulous paper pad if you are able to get your hands on one of them - lots of back to school paper perfect for card making.  The adorable image is actually cut out of a larger YNS stamp called "Ellie Loves Music". The books she is sitting on and the A+ is cut out of the design paper.   I added an apple brad and heart brad in her hair and some ribbon on the top.  I hope you get a chance to head on over to Your Next Stamp and check out all the wonderful creations from the design team and maybe you can get a chance to play along as well.  This blog will be sure to make you smile - guaranteed!!  All of these stamps are so sweet!!  Thanks for stopping by for a visit and hope you have a fantastic happy day!!

A Coloring Challenge for Me

Hello everyone - I hope you had a fabulous weekend - here in Canada we had an extra day off yesterday so it was very nice.  This weekend we reached some very hot temperatures so in the afternoons I was more than happy to be in my craft room where it was a bit cooler.  I bought this adorable Whimsy stamp called "Little Jack and Bobbin Snoozin" - it just gave me such a warm fuzzy feeling when I saw it and then once I stamped it out I realized that there is a lot to color.  It took me a few practice rounds as I am not that good with my copic markers yet and I did finally finish this image and was fairly happy with the results.  I also actually kept a list of the colors I used you can see the list below.  This card is mainly coloring except for the SU corner punch and brad I used and the sentiment is also a Whimsy stamp.  I did add some twine on the fishing rod to make it look a bit more realistic.  You will note there is a dog in this image as well and if you follow my blog you will know that I love most any image that has a cute dog in it - another reason for buying this stamp - lol!  Well it is back to work for me today but thankfully a short week so I am happy about that.  I hope you have a wonderful day where-ever you might be and thank you for stopping by for a visit.

Your Next Stamp Thursday Challenge

Hello - Well I am very excited to have been chosen guest designer for the month of August for the adorable Your Next Stamp company.  The first challenge of the month is to make a card using the colors dark pink, light pink, orange and yellow.  I used this cute YNS stamp, called girlfriends, and created this card from paper in my paper stash drawer.  I thought it might be hard to come up with this color combo but fortunately my paper drawer is very full and I was able to find the right colors.  The image is colored with copic markers and the sentiment is also from YNS.  I would suggest that you head on over to http://yournextstamp.blogspot.ca/ to check out what all the other designers have created and then join in the challenge yourself!  I just love these images as they always make me smile!!  -   Hope you are enjoying your summer - one more month to go and then fall will soon be upon us again - I am going to savour every last drop of summer I can as I just love the heat!!

Christmas in July

Hello - well July is almost over and that means summer is half way over too - I am sad that summer is going by so quickly - I am really enjoying the hot sunny weather.  Now having said all of that - you may wonder why I am making a Christmas card? - I wouldn't be doing this on my own but the scrapbooking store I design for had asked me to make a Christmas card.  I was a bit reluctant at first but then decided to take it on as a fun challenge.  I have to admit it is not easy to make a Christmas card in the summer somehow it all just doesn't come together as well.  I did struggle with this card and I have to admit it is not one of my more favorites but maybe it is because my creative mind isn't tuned in yet to winter/cold and Christmas - anyways it was still fun to be in my craft room once again and create.  I am not sure which Tilda this is or which Christmas set she belongs to but she is adorable!  I paper pieced her hat, scarf and boots and then colored the rest of her with copics.  I used a Sizzix die to cut the tree in behind and added glitter and star brads. I also used my circuit machine to cut out the lamp post in the background.  I added some pretty prima flowers and used my Memory Box die to add some black swirls behind the flowers and added some ribbon and a Whimsy sentiment stamp.  That pretty much sums up this card - I kind of went a bit overboard on it as far as embellishing but sometimes it is hard to know when to stop - lol!!  Hope you are all having a wonderful relaxing Sunday where-ever that may be.

Raining Hearts

Hello - again the days fly by and another week is gone.  I have been very busy as my son and his fiance and their dog were visiting for a few days and we had lots of running around to do for the wedding next year.  Today I got a chance to spend time in my craft room so I made this card using a new Penny Black stamp.   It just so happens to be raining here today so I chose this cute umbrella couple.  The umbrella and her dress is paper pieced and the rest is colored using copic markers.  I used a fiskar border punch on the top part of the card and added some yellow and green brads.  I also added ribbon and a Marianne swirl punch.  The flowers on top of the umbrella are cut out of designer paper.  All the paper was from my paper stash drawer.  The sentiment is also from Penny Black.  Thanks for stopping by for a visit and enjoy the weekend whatever your plans may be.

Geeky Love

Hello - boy do the days just fly by - hard to believe it is already well in to July.  We finally got our hot summer weather and I am loving it - I don't like being directly in the sun but I love the heat and my favorite part of the day is when the sun just goes down and we take our dog for a long walk on the trail - it doesn't get any better than that!!  Well I finally found some time to spend in my craft room - (it is just so much more difficult to get time for my craft room in the summer with so many other things on the go) but I managed to make this card this afternoon with my new Make it Crafty "Geeky Love" stamp. This stamp is adorable and I combined it with a Magnolia fence stamp.  I had to do some masking which I haven't done in a very long time but it worked out fine.  I also had to mask the images to color the sky in behind (it is kind of hard to see on the picture but I did make clouds with Tim Holtz distess ink Tumbled Glass).  The image is colored with my copic markers (see list of colors below) and lots of paper piecing.  All the paper is from Cosmo Cricket "Tea for Two" 6 x 6 paper pad.  The sentiment is computer generated.  I hope you are having a wonderful day and enjoying sunshine! Thanks for stopping by for a visit and enjoy your week.  My son and his fiance are coming on Wednesday and will be staying until Monday so I am looking forward to their visit.  It will be busy as we have lots of wedding details to look after while they are here.  The wedding is for July 27th, 2013 and we are all very excited about it.

Copics Used:
Skin - E02, E00, E000
Fence - E29, E25, E35, E53

Grass - E53, YG63, YG67, YG91
Flowers - E07, E95
Shoes - W7, W5, W3, W1
Rest is paper pieced

A Day at the Beach

Hello - I hope you had a wonderful weekend - once again we had mostly rain all weekend long - the long range forecast is for a very hot July so I guess it is good that we are getting lots of rain now so we shouldn't run into a water shortage as we have in many summers past.  I made this card over the weekend using adorable Tilda from Magnolia.  I forgot that I had bought the cute seagull last year again from Magnolia and I knew he would fit perfectly for this card.  I colored the image with my copic markers and made the background and colored it in with my copic markers as well.  The paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle - Splash - 6 x 6 paper pad - I loved the blue flowery paper that I used for the background - I basically built the card around that paper as I liked it that much.  I added a border on the top of the image and a punched out flower on the upper left side.  The orange flags are from Memory Box.  The Sentiment is from C.C. Designs.  Thanks for stopping by for a visit and I hope you have a wonderful week.

My Favorite Pastime

Hello - my how time flys by it has been a while since my last post I noticed.  We have been having so much rain that I decided to make a sunshiney type card and maybe the sun would start to shine - so far no luck - lol!!  This card did cheer me up though - I love the bright fun colors in the paper which is from Bo Bunny Hello Sunshine Collection 6 x 6 paper pad (love those 6 x 6 paper pads -perfect for card making).  My favorite pastime is taking my dog for a nice long walk so when I saw this stamp by Your Next Stamp I knew I had to have this one as well.  I colored her with copic markers and paper pieced her clothing.  The fence is a Magnolia die cut, the grass is Fiskars die cut and the clouds are from Memory Box.  I added a few flowers along the fence line also from Memory Box.  I added a bit of bling and that pretty much finished off the card.
I hope you have a wonderful day whereever you may be and thanks for stopping by to visit my blog.

Mermaid Tilda

Hello everyone - it has been a while since my last post - we were away last weekend to visit our daughter and whenever I am away for a weekend it really sets me behind with all my housework - finally today I was able to get caught up and spend time in my craftroom.  I made this card using the new adorable Tilda mermaid from Magnolia's latest release.  All the paper I used is from Echo Park Paper Co. called Paradise Beach.  I wasn't too sure about the color combination but it seemed to turn out okay.  I colored Tilda with my copic markers but didn't keep track of the colors once again.  I used my Sizzix die to cut out the frame around the main image and my Sizzix Sizzlit die for the brown branches.  I added a few pearl colored flowerettes to the branches.  I used sand on the bottom part of the card and added some sparkle to the mermaid fin and used gold and orange spica pens for parts of the seahorse. I added the wave she is sitting on by cutting it out of another Magnolia image. The sentiment is cut out from the design paper.  I really enjoyed making this card and thanks for stopping by for a visit.  We had a whole week of pretty much continuous rain and my poor tomatoe plants did not survive - I will have to replace all of them except for one plant which I think will make it - the rest of my garden seems to be okay, thankfully - today was our first day of sunshine in almost a week.  I hope you have a sunshiny week whereever you may be.

You Are My Sunshine

Hello everyone!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend - the weather was perfect here and I was able to get out in my garden a bit and take my dog for a couple of long walks and on Sunday I was able to spend some time in my craft room.  I made this card from an adorable Whimsy stamp.  This is actually not my stamp but a friend asked me to make a card using her stamp and so this is the result.  I had some paper in my stash paper drawer that worked out perfectly for this card.  I colored the image with my copic markers but unfortunately did not keep track of the colors - sometimes I am really good about that and remember and other times I just get so wrapped up in my coloring and completely forget.  I drew in the grass and flowers myself and I paper pieced the girl (her shirt and pants).  I used my sizzlit western die to cut out a couple of horseshoes and my cricuit machine for the stars.  I added some gingham ribbon and a couple of brads to finish off the card.  The sentiment is an older stamp and I am not sure where I got it from.  Hope your Monday is a good one and thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Pretty as a Picture

Hello - I wanted to spend time in my garden today but it was raining for most of the day so I ended up in my craft room instead -darn - lol!!  I made this card using Tilda from the latest Magnolia release.  All the paper except for the white paper is from Bo Bunny Little Miss Collection - this paper reminds me of a flower garden - it is very pretty.  I paper pieced Tilda's jumpsuit from the same paper collection as well.  I used my Martha Stewart around the page punch for the background border - the circles are cut with nestability dies.  I added flowers and 4 pearls on the corners and that pretty much finished off the card.  I colored Tilda with copic markers.  Thanks for stopping by for a visit - back to work tomorrow - cannot believe the long weekend is already over!  At least it will be a short work week though so that is good.

Hello Friend

Hello to all my stamping friends out there! I finally had a chance to ink up this absolutely adorable Whimsy stamp that I bought some time ago. I must say she is probably my most favorite stamp at the moment and so so fun to color!! I truly enjoyed the entire process of making this card. I used so many copic markers and I didn't keep track of them - sorry - I used my nestie scallop border punch for the background of the image and layered with various cardstock and design paper. I added some lace and flowers and that pretty much finished off the card. I am not sure which company the sentiment is from it was just loose in my drawer. I hope you have a wonderful day - we are having summer like weather these past few days and I am truly enjoying the warmth.

I entered this card in the Whimsy Challenge this week "Anything Goes" and also in the Papertake Weekly Challenge "In the Garden"

Bon Appetit!

Hello - Happy Mother's Day - here in Canada we celebrate Mothers everywhere. I had a nice day - my son and his fiance had left on Friday so it is just my husband and myself - it was a beautiful sunny day here so we went for a nice walk with our dog and then I spent the afternoon in my craft room - perfect!! I made this card with my new Tilda. I had an old wooden stamp that was an apron so I stamped it out on design paper and layered it with dark brown cardstock. I stamped Bon Appetit from an old SU stamp set. The sentiment is a Whimsy stamp, the stars are a sizzix die cut and the fork and knife is also from another older stamp set. I added a Magnolia lady bug. The paper is some older Bo Bunny paper from my paper stash. Today was perfect barbeque weather so I was inspired to make this card. Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by for a look.

Tilda colored in Distress Inks

Hello - for some reason I decided I wanted to learn how to color with distress inks. I always admire cards that are colored with distress inks and I thought it can't be that difficult to learn - wrong!! Actually it wasn't that bad but the hair took me many, many practice images to get it to how I was happy with it. There is a learning curve no doubt with the distress inks but I do love the look - it is a nice change from copic markers once in a while - I may be doing more of it in the future. This card was made with one of my favorite color combos - pink and green. I colored Tilda and cut her out and layered her on nestie circles and added a Marianne swirl, flowers and ribbon. I used my new Magnolia fence die cut which is kind of hard to see on this card (in the background). The sentiment is also a Magnolia stamp. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Have a wonderful weekend. My son and his fiance are home for a week from Chicago so I am really looking forward to visiting with them.

Hula Girl

Hello - Well I was in my glory with this new stamp from Make it Crafty - she required a fair bit of coloring which is my favorite part of the card making process - but I will admit a bit of a challenge as well - I have only colored black hair 3 or 4 times ever so it did take me a few trys to get it good enough for my liking - I know I have some more work to do but that is the fun part too - the learning process. Our local scrapbooking store brought in a whole line of the Make it Crafty stamps and although I only purchased 2 of them (the other being a Christmas image) they are just so adorable - something a bit different than what I am used to but so much fun!! I colored her with copic markers and yes I did keep a list this time (see below). I had some paper in my stash pile that as soon as I saw it I knew it had to go with this image - because this paper has words all over it I didn't include a sentiment - so this card oould really be used for any occasion. I cut out a circle from my Creative Memories circle cutter and used my nestability die cut for the pink border in behind. I found a hawaiian leaf from my Sizzlits collection that went well with the flowers I added. I cut out the flags from some design paper and added a bright ribbon as well. I love that it looks bright and summery - a reminder to me that summer is just around the corner. We had a beautiful summery like weekend this weekend so that made me very happy - I was able to get out and clean my deck so we can sit out there and enjoy the warmer weather. Thanks for stopping by for a look and hope you have a fabulous day!

Copics Used
Skin : E25, E11, E00, E000
Hair: C9, C7, C5, C3
Flowers: YR23, YR09
Grass Skirt: G85, G21 and YR20
I did go over her eyes with 100 and added E25 to them as well

Celebrate your Inner Princess

Hello - I have a new card today using Tilda from the latest collection. I combined her with an older Magnolia stamp (castle window). I kind of went a bit overboard on this card (for me anyways) - sometimes you just never know when to stop and that is what kind of happened with this card - lol!! I used a lot of colors from my copic markers and didn't keep track of which ones. I cut a portion of the design paper and layered it with the fushia colored cardstock to add a different element to this card - it is on the lower left side of the card - kind of hard to see as I added 3 flowers and a MS butterfly punch on top of it - I liked the look of this. I made the canopy over top using a fiskars border punch. I jazzed up the card with many, many jewels, a marianne swirl die cut and some lace. The sentiment is from an older wooden stamp that I had in my cupboard and I don't know where it came from but I thought it was a great sentiment for this card. Thanks for stopping by for a visit - have a wonderful day!!

Flower Bouquet Fhiona

Hello - I just bought this cute little stamp from our local scrapbooking store (the store has at least a dozen stamps from this company (Your Next Stamp) and they are all so cute see www.savvynsassy.com for more details. I enjoyed making this card - some times it is fun using these smaller sized images. I used Memory Keepers 6 x 6 paper pad called "love struck" and added a MS butterfly punch, some buttons and ric-rac ribbon. The sentiment is also from the same paper pad. I am sad that the weekend is almost over - but glad that May is fast approaching which means warmer weather. I hope you have a great week and thanks for stopping for a visit. Also thank you so much for your very sweet comments - I always appreciate them.

Hang In There

Hello - Happy Easter!! I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend - I enjoyed this weekend very much - not only was it Easter but it was also our 30th wedding anniversary - my husband and I spent a very lovely day together on Saturday - we drove to a nearby town and went for a long walk along the lake front and then we did a bit of shopping and then out for dinner - it was very relaxing and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't been in my craft room for quite some time but finally today I was able to get in there and make this card - this image is not my favorite but I was asked by our local scrapbooking store if I could make a card using this stamp. I am on the design team for the store and I felt I would be able to make a card with this Whimsy image. The stamp is actually called "Hang in There" and I also had an old SU sentiment that said the same thing so that worked out well. I used some paper from my stash pile and lots of flowers once again - I am really enjoying adding flowers to my cards. The image is colored with copic markers, G85, G82, G40, E33, E31, E50, E51, E50, Y13 and Y11. Thank you for stopping by for a visit and have a wonderful week.

Whimisical Birds

Hello everyone - has been a bit since my last post - it was a hectic and emotional week seeing my oldest son leave for New Zealand - which is halfway around the world from where we live. There were so many last minute things to do for both him and myself before he left - but he is now in New Zealand and starting work in a winery yesterday. So far things are going well for him so I am happy. It is now back to just myself and my husband for a while anyways - this card was made with one of my newest Whimsy stamps - our local scrapbooking store brought in many new ones as well as some of the older ones and I ended up buying quite a few as they were all so so adorable. I am writing this post at work so I don't have the actual name of this stamp other than it is a Whimsy image. I colored it with my copic markers (very little coloring for this image) and cut out with an older Creative Memories oval pattern and layered on my new Nestibility fancy oval border (just love this one!). The paper is from my stash pile. The flowers are from my flower drawer and the swirl is a Marianne die cut. Sentiment and top left corner are also from Whimsy. Thanks for stopping for a visit and hope you have a wonderful day!

More Signs of Spring

Hello - hope you had a wonderful weekend! I had a very relaxing one - which rarely ever happens. My son was gone for the weekend and my husband got back from a golf trip Saturday night - I really enjoyed the alone time I must admit - I wouldn't want to be on my own for an extended period of time but for a few days it was a really nice change. To not have to worry about what to feed everyone was my biggest relief - to just make something simple for myself was so nice. I was able to spend time in my craft room this weekend as well and I made this card for our local scrapbooking store and I used an older C.C. Designs image called Laying Nora. The sentiment is also a C.C. Designs stamp. The paper I used is new - I just bought it - it is a basic grey design called Konnichiwa (has an asian look to it). I framed the image using my sizzix die cut and the flowers were a sizzix sizxlit die called Flowers, Branches and Leaves Set. The grass was cut using Fiskars grass punch. I just added a bit of ribbon and paper pieced her dress and that finished the card. I really like the colors of this one. Copic markers used - face - E11, E00, E000 and R85 for her cheeks and her hair is E25, E31 and E50 (not too much coloring for this card). Thanks for stopping to have a look and have a wonderful week.

Signs of Spring

Hello - This was a fun card to make - it started with the Memory Box wrought iron gate die cut. I decided that this Sarah Kay image would be perfect with the gate die cut. I cut out 2 of the gate die to make it appear as one. I added the Wildflower Patch Poppystamps die cut to the gate - these cute little flowers were the perfect size. The paper is Basic Grey - Olivia - 6 x 6 paper pad (love the soft pinks and greens). I paper pieced the girl's overalls and colored the rest of her with copic markers. I am really excited as I was recently asked to be on the design team for our local scrapbooking store and this is one of the cards I made for the store to display. Well I am off to bed as it is already past my bedtime - good night!

Whimsy Wee Florist

Hello - hope your weekend was a great one! Mine was the usual - housecleaning, grocery shopping, cooking and baking but I was able to get some time in my craft room so I was happy. This card is made with Whimsy's Wee Florist stamp. Isn't she just adorable!! I bought some new Bo Bunny paper (all in soft tones) and I knew it would work nicely together with this image. I was in my glory with this image as it required lots of coloring and that is my favorite part of the card making process. I used many copic marker (see listing below). I used my Martha Stewart border punch to make a fence behind the image. The pink background was cut out using my nestability. I layered the Bo Bunny paper with some blue and yellow cardstock, added some flowers and a SU sentiment which I cut out using my SU circle punches. I added a bit of Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink around some of the edges. Thanks for stopping for a visit and hope you have a wonderful week.

Copic Markers used:

Cellar Root Door

Hello - it has been quite some time since my last post - I am not sure where the past few weeks have gone but I do know that I have been super busy. I finally have finished my year end at work so that will hopefully free up some more time to be in my craft room. This card is kind of a personal challenge for me. I was given the Magnolia Cellar Root Door stamp and asked to make a card using it. I must admit I am not thrilled about this stamp and it took me 4 cards to finally get a card that I am some what pleased with. I knew right away that I wanted to match this Tilda with the door stamp but the lay-out and colors took me quite some time to figure out. I used many copic markers (the door is mostly colored with
W5, W3, W1, W00, E44, E42, E41, E40) (the sky is BG000 and BG0000). I tried a new technique for Tilda's hair and was quite pleased with how that turned out. The technique was in one of the older Magnolia magazines. I used my circle and scalloped nesties for the background and C.C. Design sentiment and I paper pieced Tilda's dress. I am not sure which paper pad this paper is from as it was all just in my paper stash pile. The butterflies I added at the end are also from Magnolia. Thanks for stopping by for a visit and hope you have a wonderful week.

Together Forever

Hello - my son is going to a friend's wedding next weekend and he asked if I would make a wedding card and of course I said "sure". It gave me a chance to pull out the adorable Edwin and Tilda bride and groom. It has been a while since I used this stamp and I really enjoyed making a wedding card. Speaking of weddings - great news in our family - my youngest son (he is only 22 years old) asked his beautiful girlfriend to marry him and she said "yes" and we couldn't be happier - she is a wonderful girl and we love her lots! My son has already hinted that I make all the invitations - approx. 160 of them - yikes!! Thankfully the wedding isn't going to be until the summer of 2014 so it will give me some time!! Anyways on to this card I colored the image with my copic markers. The background is also a Magnolia stamp (not sure what the name of it is) that is also colored with copics. I used a MS border punch for the bottom border and my quickutz for all the flowers. The swirl corner die is a sizzlit die. I added some glitter on Tilda's veil and the sun. I don't usually do blue so I am not quite sure why I chose blue! I am glad tomorrow is Sunday so one more day off before back to work. Hoping to go snowshoeing for a couple of hours tomorrow - just tried showshoeing last weekend and loved it!!

Hope you have a great rest of your weekend.

Hello - our local scrapbooking store brought in some new Whimsy stamps and I purchased a couple and this was one of them. Her name is Sweet Blossom and I just think she is adorable! I wanted to make a card that reflects Spring. I am so looking forward to Spring and Summer. I used one of my more favorite color combinations of green/pink. She is colored with my copics markers and this time I did keep a list of colors - (see at end of post). I used my scallop and circle nesties for the image and added some flowers, ribbon, jewels and brads. The sentiment is from C.C. Designs. Thanks for stopping for a visit and have a wonderful day!!

Fish Wishes

Hello - It has been a busy week as we were away 3 days last week to watch our son play hockey. The weekend was supposed to be for getting some housework done but I seemed to have caught a stomach flu virus and just wasn't up to much of anything even though I did manage to get a bit of house cleaning done. We are invited to my uncle's 80th birthday next week and so I made this card for the occasion. I just purchased the Art Impressions fisherman stamp and it took me some time to put this card together - I tried a couple of other lay-outs before ending up with this one. I used my sizzix die for the tree in the background and added some rocks for the fisherman to stand on with my copic markers. I layered with various paper from my paper stash and added a MS border punch to the right side and some ribbon, twine, flowers and buttons. The sentiment is from SU. The fisherman image does not include the fish - that was an add-on. I had that cute little fish from another older stamp set and thought it would be nice that the fisherman at least had a good catch for the day. It is hard to see on the picture but I used some colored sparkle on the fish and it really looks quite nice in real life. This card is different for me than my usual so I must admit a bit more of a challenge but I am pleasantly happy with the results. Thanks for stopping by for a visit and have a great day!

P.S. Sorry again didn't keep list of copic markers used - I did use a lot for this picture though.

Roses are Red

Hello - Boy it has been cold!! BRRR!!! I do not like this cold weather we are having here but thankfully by the weekend it is supposed to warm up considerably - I sure hope the weather man is right this time! This card was initially made for the Just Magnolia challenge which is a sketch but it lost the sketch design as I starting putting it together so I won't be entering it after all. I will find another challenge to enter it in I am sure. I love this Tilda - I love her hair on this image and it is fun to color as well. I used a Penny Black sentiment that I have had for quite some time and at the time of buying this Tilda I envisioned a card using the two stamps together somehow. I used my Martha Stewart around the page punch for the background and my oval nesties as well as some ribbon and lace, Marianne swirl die, flowers and my new favorite the pearl pen (love that pearl pen!!) I liked this color combination as well (turquoise and red). I colored Tilda with my copic markers and once again I didn't keep track of colors - I will keep trying to do that though - hopefully next time. Thanks for stopping by to visit and have a great rest of your week!

Lavender and Lace

Hello everyone! Wow did we have a snow storm today! We have not had much snow all winter and then this afternoon in a matter of a couple of hours we got about 8 inches of snow! It just so happened my husband is out of town and my son was away at hockey so I had to do all the shovelling and boy was that a work-out!! One of my adorable new Tilda images was used for this card. I started coloring last night and finished the card this evening. I used the beautiful Bo Bunny "Smoochable" 6 x 6 paper pad and just love this combination of lavender, brown and bright green. I colored Tilda with my copics (sorry didn't keep a list of colors - I will try to remember more in the future). I purchased a pearl pen some time ago and haven't really used it much so I added pearl drops all around the border of the image (I think I will be using that pearl pen again - love the results and ease!). I added a Memory Box swirl die in the corner and topped with 3 prima flowers. I also added lace and ribbon on the bottom and the sentiment is from Stampin Up layered on SU oval punches. Well off to bed for me - late night once again! Hope you have a wonderful Sunday and thank you for taking time to stop and visit my blog.

Oh So Huggable!

Hello - Well this card was not planned out - it just evolved with each new piece that was added. I bought the Bo Bunny "Smoochable Collection" 6 x 6 paper pad and one of the papers was the brown background piece with the words "Huggable, Kissable, You" and that is where it began. I then knew I wanted to use my new Tilda and she needed something to sit on so I thought why not cut out a couple of hearts which I used my cricuit machine for. I then found the pom-pom ribbon border and just knew that finally I was going to use it on this card - I was so excited at this point!! (I have had this pom-pom border ribbon for ages and never knew where I would ever use it and it just worked so perfectly for this card - in my opinion) I then cut out the sentiment from another sheet of the Bo Bunny paper. I added some pink twine in the background for a more 3 dimentional look and added some tiny green and pink brads as well as some buttons, felt flowers and pink twine to make a bow. I also paper pieced Tilda's overalls with paper again from the same paper pad and added a couple of small purple buttons. I did add sparkle to the rose although it is hard to see on the photo. I was pleasantly surprised at how this card turned out and truly enjoyed the entire creative process involved. That is what I love most about this craft - each card is it's own masterpiece and the process of creating is so enjoyable! Two more days till the weekend - looking forward to a nice quiet weekend and hopefully more time in my craft room. I am going to submit this card for the Just Magnolia challenge "Anything Goes" and "using something new" which would be my new Tilda stamp and the Bo Bunny paper. Have a great day.

A Perfect Day!

Hello - well must say it was a difficult 2 days - my computer was not working properly and was driving me crazy so I had to take it in for repair - I was without my computer for 2 days and let me tell you that was not easy - I never thought I would feel that way - but I did surprise myself on how much I actually missed my computer. As I was not spending time on the computer though I was able to make another card this week. I wanted to use my new Memory Box tree die (just love this die) and thought my Penny Black stamps were a perfect match (I can also see those cute little hedgies having some fun under that tree in the future as well). I cut the die out of white cardstock and then used 3 various shades of green copic markers (G99, G85 and G82) to give the tree a more realistic look. I added the grass under the bear - I have seen others do this grass technique and always wanted to try it - it was fun to try and I am not disappointed in my first attempt of coloring grass. I added 3 blue copic markers (B0000, B000and B00 to the background for the sky. I layered some DP and cardstock and added some gingham ribbon and a couple of red brads to the top corners and that finished it off. After finishing this card and looking at it I saw in this card a perfect day (my vision of a perfect day - sitting under a tree on a warm spring/summer day - the only thing I would add would be a book in my hand and my dog at my side) Hope you get a chance to have your perfect day some time in 2012! Thanks for stopping by for a look and once again thank you so much for your very kind comments.

A Day that Sparkles

Hello - I colored this image at our latest crop night and then came home and put the card together. I really like the soft mauve and yellow combination (although the photo turned out more blueish in color unfortunately). I used my new Memory Box die for the swirls behind the flowers. It is kind of hard to see the glitter on the border of the diamond shape but in real life it really does sparkle that is why I chose the sentiment I did (not sure where this sentiment is from). It is really late so I am heading off to bed - hope you have a fabulous monday and thanks for stopping by for a look.

Hooked on Magnolias

Hello and Happy New Years! Well I think I can finally admit that I am totally hooked on Magnolias. I am not sure what it is about them but I just adore them and I love to create cards with them and this is my latest creation using one of my newer Tilda images. I decided to make a Valentines card as I know that I will need a few. This card uses paper from We R Memory Keepers 6 x 6 paper pad (love those 6 x 6 paper pads - perfect for cards). I also used my oval nestabilities, Martha Stewart heart punch (one of my favorite punches), fiskars border punch, sizzix love sentiment and some flowers - I have a huge drawer full of flowers I always buy them when I see them as I just love how other people use them on their cards so I am making an effort to use more of my flowers on my cards in the future - I am liking the look. I added some lace on the bottom and colored Tilda with my copic markers as well as paper piecing her dress. Thank you for stopping by for a look and hope you have a wonderful week.
